Portpatrick, Dumfries and Galloway Amongst spectacular forests and picturesque lochs, this region has over 450 miles of exhilarating cycle routes - both on and off road - in five of the world famous 7stanes .  Walk through the Galloway Forest Park, along cliff top paths or to the Beeftub, where Border Reivers used to corral their cattle.  All around you will discover wonderful wildlife with red squirrels, ospreys and impressive Red Kites.                                              
With delicious fresh salmon, farmhouse cheeses, and local game, the region boasts a range of fabulous farmers producing the finest local food from delicious beef to creamy cheese.  Enjoy the region's farmers' markets or farm shops or sample local food in local eating places.                   
Dumfries & Galloway sits in the south-west corner of Scotland stretching from the Border to the Irish Sea, making it easy to reach from all directions and great for a short break.  The M6 motorway takes you straight into the region and good main roads take you direct to your destination or follow one of the three touring routes through beautiful landscapes.
