The Lost Gardens of Heligan is a must for many visitors to the county. More than two centuries of history will be found here and it was all hidden until 25 years ago when a team led by Tim Smit started to uncover and refurbish this hidden gem.

Close to Heligan is the world famous Eden Project where visitors can explore the biomes that feature plants from throughout the world. With excellent educational facilities, Eden proves to be a good day out for all the family.

Trebah Gardens in Falmouth is a sub tropical valley garden that hosts exotic blooms that cascade down to the banks of the Helford River.

A trip to the Truro area can include visits to the national trust property Trewithen and Tregothan which is the first tea estate in the UK. The gardens at Trewithen were created in the twenties and hosts some magnificent collections of rhododendrons; camellias and magnolias. Some stunning woodland walks can also be enjoyed at the estate.
Penzance also boosts two gardens that are sure to provide a wealth of colour. Trewidden was planted in the 1840's by Edward Bolitho and as well as the champion camellias, a fine selection of rhododendrons, camellias and azaleas can be enjoyed within this mature woodland setting.
Trengwainton is another national trust garden on the outskirts of Penzance. Packed to the brim with exotics, this is a sheltered garden that enjoys a mild climate. Also famed for its stunning tree ferns, a walk through this garden is sure to please. The garden also enjoys panoramic views to Mounts Bay.

At the other end of the county, visitors can combine gardens of Cornwall with a trip over the Tamar into Devon which also boasts some gardens that are well worth a visit. Enjoy a stroll through acres of parkland at Mount Edgcombe where at the right time of year guests can view the national camellia collection. Partake in a cup of tea in the orangery restaurant and enjoy the views across the River Tamar into navy Plymouth.
