We’d like to extend a huge congratulations to Brook Meadow on the Leicestershire/Northamptonshire border who were winners of the Triumph Over Adversity award at this year’s national Rural Business Awards, sponsored by Amazon.
Brook Meadow is a family run campaign and glamping site in the tranquil Leicestershire countryside and situated on a working farm, the site is surrounded by 400 acres of peaceful pasture and arable land, with 20 acres designated for holidaying and a breath-taking five-acre lake.
Owners, Jasper and Mary Hart, have been Farm Stay UK members for decades and now, with their daughter Claire at the helm, have seen their business soar, despite overcoming family tragedy and hardships themselves. In fact, Claire was kind enough to do a presentation on how they’ve turned the site around at our Farm Stay UK Conference in 2019.
With a very high standard of customer experience, from the incomparable location teaming with wildlife to the attention to detail from having owners who live on site they really can offer a very special holiday experience that you will want to repeat again and again.
Claire Hart said: “I am truly thrilled, as are my dear parents Jasper and Mary, to receive the Triumph Over Adversity Award alongside the other worthy winners with their incredibly inspiring stories this unique category has shone a light on. The current situation is very difficult, so to receive a Rural Business Award means the absolute world to my family and our team, who I thank wholeheartedly for their support.
“Our drive has been to look after our family and our heritage, my brother’s legacy and my son’s future. Gaining national recognition for all we have overcome and achieved together is very special. I would love the success of Brook Meadow’s story to be a glimmer of hope for anyone who is struggling – believe in yourself, better days are on the horizon. Thank you, Rural Business Awards and Amazon.”
Founded by rural-based business women, Jemma Clifford and Anna Price, the Rural Business Awards are backed by Amazon and judged by an independent panel, drawn from the rural business sector, rural public sector agencies, and rural charitable organisations.
Jemma Clifford, Director and Co-Founder of The Rural Business Awards, said: “The last year has been tough for all rural businesses, but we remain amazed at the high calibre of entries to the RBAs and this has certainly continued in the 2020/21 year. The judges had a real challenge on their hands when picking the winners and every business shortlisted should be very proud of their achievement of reaching the National Final. Our winners have all shown great determination and have bright futures ahead - on behalf of everyone at the Rural Business Awards we congratulate them all.”
