Suffolk Wool Towns

The Suffolk Wool Towns are among some of the prettiest villages & preserved historic towns in Suffolk, and visitors will feel they have stepped back in time to the 15th century when the wool trade was at its peak. These wool towns which include Clare, Lavenham, Long Melford, Hadleigh, Ipswich, Sudbury & Bury St Edmunds were among the richest places in the country.

The Guildhall at Lavenham (National Trust) and Old Hall are situated on the lovely Market Square. There are many lovely bespoke shops to browse around along with art galleries and Timbers Antique Centre.

In Long Melford you can visit Kentwell Hall & Melford Hall, and then wander down the charming main street with its individual shops, restaurants & art galleries. In Clare you can enjoy Clare Castle Country Park with its lovely walks and play area for children. There is also the 13th C Augustinian Priory and The Ancient House Museum.
