Irelands´ largest sanctuary for Birds of Prey and Owls, Eagles Flying / Irish Raptor Research Centre is situated in mature park lands. Currently it is home to over 100 Eagles, Hawks, Owls, Falcons and Vultures. It is one of the major tourist attractions in the northern part of Ireland. Thousands of visitors flock to see the spectacular flying demonstrations with Eagles, Hawks, Falcons, Vultures and Owls of different species. Twice daily scientists train these birds for visitors and give information about the biology of these magnificent creatures. They also answer questions from the audience. During these interactive Bird Shows you can experience different types of birds of prey flying right over your head or landing beside you.
Some of the birds can be touched. If you are lucky you may even hold one of the birds. The shows start at 11 am and 3 pm every day and last for approximately one hour. Before and after the shows the visitors can walk the parklands and enjoy the birds displayed in aviaries or on perches close to the walking path.
For the ones who prefer it more cuddly there is also a large supervised PET-ZOO with guinea-pigs, pigs, rabbits, lambs, goats, donkeys, ferrets and many more. Altogether live more than 350 birds and animals out of 75 different species in the centre.
The show area can seat more than 550 people per show. In case of rain we can do the shows indoors. Booking is not essential, but the team appreciates a short notice, if you intend to bring bigger groups.
