In the tiny wooded hamlet of St. Mewan, up a tree lined drive and set within 45 acres of beautiful rolling countryside, the six cottages are set around an open courtyard with ample parking. Converted from the original farm buildings each inviting cottage has its own individual charm with central heating and wood fires making them warm and cosy for any season.

The kitchens have everything you need to rustle up a family feast - don’t fancy cooking - then local company ‘Angels in the Kitchen’ provide scrumptious home-made meals delivered to your door. The award winning local pub as well as a good choice of restaurants is only 5 minutes drive from Poltarrow - we’re happy to recommend our favourites, plus all supermarkets deliver to the farm. We have a small farm shop that runs on an honesty-box system so it’s open 24 hours. With lots of yummy local treats such as Cornish ice cream, biscuits, fudge, apple juice, jams, chutneys and farm fresh eggs. Frozen pasties, bacon, sausage and frozen meals – a 'go to' if you don’t fancy cooking!

All cottages have been designed with family living in mind. We can provide full size wooden cots, high chairs, stairgates, step ups, booster seats, bed guards and a long list of baby equipment to help lighten the load. Three of the cottages are single storey at ground level, two of which are suitable for those with mobility impairment (designed to attain M3 level under the National Accessible Standard). Not forgetting our four legged friends we accept a well behaved pet in three of the cottages.

When it comes to filling little lungs with fresh Cornish air, children can help Kate feed the farm animals, follow a farm trail to meet the ducks or go down to a private lake to have a go at fun fishing. Closer to the cottages, youngsters can make new friends in an enclosed play area, with swings, a slide and a see-saw or get digging in the sand pit with diggers, buckets and spades. The little ones have their very own soft play area, the ‘Tumble Room’ which is kitted out with colourful padded mats, play tunnels, a slide, Wendy house and toys plus a library of books and DVDs. All ages will enjoy the 10x4m indoor pool, heated to a toasty 30°c or families can have fun and games in the big, heated sports hall, with a trampoline, table tennis, pool table, climbing wall, basketball hoop and badminton/tennis court. Even if the weather turns there are plenty of things to do to keep all ages amused!

If you can tear yourselves away from the farm there are loads of places to visit. Being located pretty much in the middle of Cornwall; everywhere is within easy reach. Discover the unique magic of the south coast with plenty of safe sandy coves - excellent for rock pooling! Poltarrow Farm is also perfectly placed to discover the north coast with its dramatic coastline and long expanses of beach - great for surfing. Explore picturesque towns and villages, galleries and museums, top notch eateries, historic castles and houses, iconic attractions like the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan which are all within a 15 - 20 minute drive plus a wealth of walks and cycle trails are all close by.

Being set in 45 acres of beautiful meadows, Poltarrow makes an ideal retreat for hibernating couples, a haven for nature lovers or the perfect place for a walk with the dog.

If you long to relax in a comfortable cottage for a week or two - or a well deserved break for a a few days, we’ve just the right place.

Complimentary Wi-Fi connection in all cottages.

About The Nancarrow Family

Judith and Peter, both Cornish born and bred, bought Poltarrow in 1982 and ran a B&B in the farmhouse whilst raising their young family. Enjoying welcoming guests to the farm they decided to convert the redundant farm buildings into holiday cottages. Their knowledge of Cornwall is second to none and they enjoy helping guests plan days out. In 2004, trained chef (her CV includes the Ritz London), Libby returned to help run Poltarrow. Libby influences much of the cottage’s interior design believing that family friendly accommodation doesn’t mean you have to compromise on style. On the birth of her two sons Kate came home to work in 2013 whereupon she began to invite the guests to join her on the animal feeding round. With nearly 40 years experience of welcoming guests the family pride themselves on providing their guests with a relaxing, memorable holiday and look forward to welcoming you too!
