Located in a private hidden valley with breath-taking views across the rolling countryside, Luccombe is a secluded and peaceful setting ideal for families, multi-generational holidays, friends, couples and individuals of all ages.

With a riding school onsite and an excellent pub within walking distance, Luccombe offers superb facilities, including a private indoor leisure complex as well as indoor and outdoor play areas, such as the games room, children’s play area, a fairy & elf door hunt, tennis and garden games.

Children can visit all the animals including donkeys, ducks, goats and chickens.

Luccombe Holidays is a collection of eleven comfortable and well equipped self-catering cottages and the flexible accommodation is suitable for all groups and ages including the young and elderly.

Set in 650 acres of beautiful rolling downland in a private hidden valley, ¾ mile from the main road, Luccombe is a traditional family farm with nature and wildlife in abundance. There are wonderful walks in every direction as well as many secluded spots for guests to sit and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

Children can visit the animals including donkeys, ducks and goats.

There is a Riding School on the farm and for the adventurous, Clay Pigeon Shooting and Fly Fishing can also be arranged.

Luccombe is located within walking distance (10-15 minutes across the fields) of Milton Abbas which is a charming historic thatched village. Here you can find the 15th Century Milton Abbey, a post office, the fantastic farm shop, Steeptonbill, the lovely Tea Clipper Tea Rooms as well as an excellent family friendly pub serving gourmet meals, The Hambro Arms.

A ten-minute drive away you will find Blandford Forum, a small Georgian town on the banks of the River Stour.  With stunning architecture, a variety of cafes, coffee shops, pubs and a wonderful market place, Blandford is also home to one of Dorset’s breweries, Hall & Woodhouse (famous for the award winning Badger beers).

Also nearby is Dorchester, world famous for its strong connection with the writer and poet Thomas Hardy. Here you can find excellent shopping facilities, restaurants, cafes, bars and bistros, museums, glorious gardens and river walks. En route to Dorset’s county town you will pass the Langham Wine Estate. With views of the vineyard and winery, it’s the perfect place to taste their award winning wines, have a bite to eat or enjoy a lazy afternoon cream tea.

There is an abundance of activities to do locally with something to do or see in any direction. The Jurassic coast is just 15 miles away with breath-taking scenery, wonderful walks and the sandy beaches of Studland, Sandbanks, Swanage and Weymouth are within easy reach. Dorset is a fantastic destination for all ages and has plenty of attractions such as:

  • Corfe Castle
  • Dorset Waterpark (located next to Corfe Castle)
  • Jurassic Coast where you can find the iconic Durdle Door, beautifully secluded Lulworth Cove and Old Harry Rocks.

  • Swanage Steam Railway (The heritage railway attraction operates full-size steam and diesel passenger trains from Norden to Corfe Castle and down to the seaside town of Swanage.)
  • The Tank Museum
  • Weymouth's Sea Life Centre

Couples, singles, family parties, the young, the elderly, those seeking peace and rest, or frenetic activities, are all welcome here. There is also a barn available for family groups to dine together if they are celebrating a special occasion.

All guests departing on a Sunday are welcome to stay until 4pm, free of charge, to make the most of their weekend.

Our pig ‘Prudence’ once lived in the Old Sty, although as you can see from the images it has changed a bit since then! This cottage is 150 years old and is a combination of brick, flint & slate construction. There are old beams which adds huge character. It is single storey with parking by the door.

For larger groups there is the option of an interconnecting door through to Lavender Cottage which is blocked when not in use. There is also the option of just having Lavender bedroom with Blossom (with or without the additional bathroom), should a 2 bedroom cottage be required.

Blossom was one of our favourite cows, she was incredibly friendly and loved by all. This cottage, which is named after her, was completed in May 2017.

Turnip was a much loved cow. When she was only a few weeks old she suddenly refused to drink milk, we found the only thing she would eat was turnips. Three years later she became the founding member of the ‘Turnip’ family. This cottage, which is named after her, was completed in May 2017.

Car arrival:

From Blandford take the A354 towards Dorchester. At Winterbourne Whitechurch (after six miles) turn right. Sign posted Milton Abbas - keep going for exactly one and a half miles and then turn left into our farm entrance (well signed). The private drive is surfaced with tarmac. Just keep on going straight ahead for about ¾ mile over several sleeping policemen. You will pass the riding school on your right and then the Business Centre, the grain store and several houses and barns. Finally you will drop down into our hidden valley and recognise your chosen cottage using our cottage layout map.
