Y Granar is a romantic and pet-friendly cottage, one mile from Tregaron in the picturesque Cambrian Mountains of West Wales, on the renowned ancient drovers’ road to Abergwesyn. It's perfect for a quiet holiday for two or a peaceful retreat for one. Dogs are very welcome and stay for free. Enjoy the wide open dark skies of the Cambrian Mountains from your balcony, and long countryside walks directly from your door. Views of hills and pastures surround you, although pubs and shops are only one mile away. By car, beautiful dog-friendly beaches are nearby as the crow flies, and reached in just over half an hour.

Y Granar is a luxurious hideaway for two in the upper floor of a 200 year-old stone barn in the Welsh countryside.  It has a king-size four-poster tester bed and organic cotton linens, and is kept cosy by underfloor heating.  Outside is a large balcony overlooking the foothills of the Cambrian Mountains. Red kites can nearly always be seen soaring in the skies overhead. Evenings can be spent star-gazing or in front of the woodburning stove.

The lane and the entrance door of Y Granar are on the same level - a walkway takes you directly to your balcony and grand views of the countryside.

We love dogs, and have designed Y Granar to make them welcome. There is a four-poster dog bed (for smaller dogs) as well as dog treats, food & water bowls, dog leads, guest tags, a gated balcony, off-lead exercise areas in our pasture and woods, maps of dog walks from the property (no stiles!), and information on nearby dog-friendly beaches. High speed WiFi is free of charge, as are fuel for the wood stove and, of course, pets!  

There are miles and miles of open-access land for horse riding in the Cambrian Mountains and forests, directly from our property. So why not bring your horse? There is no additional charge, and we have a one-acre meadow with a field shelter (on a DIY basis), as well as off-road parking for your horse box.

Welcome to peace and tranquility in the beautiful Welsh countryside, where red kites soar overhead, seas beckon to the west, and the Cambrian Mountains rise in all other directions. A 200-year-old barn tucked into a hillside, Y Granar enjoys sweeping countryside views from the balcony at the same time as easy one-level access from the quiet lane.

The stunning interior features fieldstone walls and an opulent four-poster bed with organic linens.

The fully-equipped country kitchen includes a Rangemaster cooker.  Floors are kept cozy by underfloor heating flowing from a green clean energy-efficient biomass system fuelled by locally-sourced woodchips.

Enjoy views through the stable door whilst seated by the wood-burning stove or lying in the freestanding roll-top bath.  Gaze upon dark night skies from the balcony.

Dogs of any size are welcome!  There is a dog welcome pack and a four-poster dog bed.  

Maps will guide you through beautiful dog-friendly walks from your door.  Open moorlands can be reached on foot within 30 minutes.  

Horses can enjoy miles of lanes and open access land directly from the property.

There are never any additional pet charges. Your cats are welcome, too.

Tan yr Allt is one mile from the centre of Tregaron. From the market square in Tregaron, bear left to take the road sign-posted for Soar-y-Mynydd and Abergwesyn. At one mile, look for a red phone box on the left, and then turn right about 100 feet afterward - just before the sign post reading "Abergwesyn (Mountain Road)". Up the lane, Tan yr Allt is the first property on the right.

 A GPS with the post code should take you to the lane, but is likely to tell you to go beyond the house.  Stop in the first lay-by on the right - that's your very own parking space.
