PLEASE NOTE - THE 3 BED LODGE, GLEN ROE LODGE, WILL NO LONGER HAVE A HOT TUB FROM 2ND JAN '25 ONWARDS AND IS PRICED ACCORDINGLY

A spacious and fully equipped 3 bedroom lodge ( GLEN ROE - 3 x double bedroom & 2 bathrooms) or 2 bedroom (GLEN BAY - 1 x SuperKing & Twin) lodge each with their own private Hot Tub on a peaceful and private farmstay deep in the East Ayrshire countryside with lots of friendly animals such as dogs, cats, horses, Shetlands, goats, Highland coos with pet Valais Blacknose sheep and chickens also on site as well as the surrounding wildlife. The peaceful Lodges are detached & private with the River Nith running through the farm grounds. There is plenty to do with entertainment for all the family both on and off site. The West facing terraces with garden furniture or the private hot tubs are perfect for sitting in and watching the busy bird life, animals and sunsets from. You can meet all the animals here too as well as book a private farm tour where you can go around with the owner, Cat, and get more personal introductions to the animals, find out more about them, as well as feed them some of their allowed treats and get selfies with them. During certain seasons bottle feeding some of the new arrivals (lambs or goats) here is also available. (additional costs for these experiences apply and please note they may not always be available if only staying for 2 nights due to workload on the farm) Once evening arrives, why not sit in the hot tub watching the stunning clear skies at night or get the fire pit going (wood available on site)? Being so near the Galloway Forest Park (first park in the UK to get the much coveted Dark Sky Status) means the clear skies are simply stunning with no light pollution. There's plenty to do indoors too with a smart tv, dvd player, wifi, board games and books to keep you entertained. Walks can be taken straight from the door, down to the beautiful river Nith (fishing available during open seasons), or surrounding area with wildlife, incl birds of prey, herons, Roe deer and otters. A haven for bird watchers and photographers or those who love animals & peace!

I moved to Scotland 5 years ago with my gorgeous dog, Dali, an 8 year old Dalmatian who will want to say hello and have a cuddle with you. In the 5 years or so that I have been here I have rehomed a number of rescue animals who now live a pampered life of luxury including 3 other Dalmatian crosses as well as another 2 Dalmatians, 2 cats, Shetlands, horses as well as hatching my own rare breed chickens, the eggs of which guests receive a complimentary half dozen on check in (depending on Seasonal Availability). There are also some incredibly friendly bottle fed goats as well as two new arrivals with a couple of Highland Coos recently welcomed to the farm.  I have also started breeding my own flock of very friendly Valais Blacknose sheep, reknown for being the cutest and friendliest sheep on the planet who will usually run up to say hello! My herd of very friendly Boer goats have been with me since a few days old as they were either rejected or too many for mum so have all been raised as pets and bottle fed here (guests have had a great time bottle feeding them!) and are the friendlist goats you will ever meet! All the pet sheep and goats absolutely adore a good scratch and cuddles from guests! During your stay you are very welcome to get a farm tour and get introductions to all the animals here. I'm usually somewhere surrounded by them!

Please note that is a working farm and equestrian site with a river flowing on the boundary so children must ALWAYS be supervised and accompanied by an adult member of your party whenever they are outside the lodge. Also, the dogs cannot be shut away for your stay. Although they are incredibly friendly, if you or your party do not like dogs, this may not be the best place for your vacation as they love coming up to the lodges to say hello and get a cuddle.

All bed linen is provided however towels are not so please bring your own and spares are a good idea so you always have dry ones for the hot tub.

Dumfries House, recently bought and redone by Prince Charles, is just outside of New Cumnock as are a range of beautiful walks. The Ayrshire Coastal Path, a 100-mile long coastal walk with one of the finest panoramic coastlines in the British Isles, a short drive away. There are golf courses around and a local spa if you fancy a day of pampering. Ayr's sandy beach and popular beachside town is under an hour away and what about panning for gold at Wanlockhead? If you are a fan of Scotland's own Robert Burns there are plenty of memorials and museums celebrating him & his works. Or maybe you'd like to go for an experience day with a local farm's gorgeous Clydesdales at the Blackstone Clydesdales? If any of your party fancy doing some horse riding there are plenty of recommended riding schools in the area. Galloway Forest Park, the largest forest in the UK as well as the first park given the much coveted status of a Dark Skies Park is a short drive away with gorgeous scenery & wildlife. Glasgow is just over an hour away for a day out in town. Ayrshire's history is beautifully on display with nearby Drumlanrig and Culzean castles.

Additional Directions Information

Approaching from the South

From Dumfries you need to get onto the A76 Northbound towards Kilmarnock. Keep going and go through Sanquhar and Kirkconnel on the A76. Around 8 mins after Kirkconnel you will see a March Lane and March Cottage on your right and an OverCairn farm on your left. There will be bends ahead and a few hazard road signs on the left. You will go past a difficult to spot entrance to a Waistland Farm on your right (usually marked with bins at the end of the drive). I am the next right hand turn at the top of a big bend and you will see a telegraph pole with a black Meikle Westland Farm sign 1/4 way up it as well as a blue "eggs for sale" sign beneath it. The turn is at the top of a big bend. Turn right here into the drive and go all the way down the drive, past the bungalow on the left and past the white farmhouse at the bottom. The drive is a single farm track and has bumps for the rain drainage as well as some possible dogs or chickens on it so please take it slowly. Please use the sanitiser at the yard gate before you open it and then go through. My dogs (the welcoming committee!) should let me know that you're here.

If coming from Edinburgh and the sat nav takes you via a route approaching from the South it will more that likely take you onto the CrawfordJohn road, the B740. Follow this road all the way to the end where it will take you directly onto the A76 in between Sanquhar and Kirkconnel. Turn right onto the A76, heading towards Kilmarnock and follow the above directions from the A76.

Approaching from the North

The best way is to get onto the A76 Southbound towards Dumfries. Go all the way through Mauchline and then New Cumnock, staying on the A76. Around a mile and a half beyond New Cumnock you'll see a Blackwood and a Polshill farm on your left. The turning after the Polshill sign on the fence is their 2nd driveway and then I am the next left. The turn is at the top of a big bend and comes up fast. There is a black Meikle Westland Farm sign 1/4 way up a pole at the top of the drive as well as a blue "eggs for sale" sign beneath it. Turn left into the drive and go all the way down the drive, past the bungalow on the left and past the white farmhouse right at the bottom. The drive is a single farm track and has bumps for the rain drainage as well as some possible dogs or chickens on it so please take it slowly. Please use the sanitiser at the yard gate before you open it and then go through. My dogs (the welcoming committee!) should let me know when you're here.
