Eco-luxury self-catering cottage in unspoilt Ruby Country on the border of beautiful north Devon and Cornwall, set on a non-working 30-acre farm now managed for nature and biodiversity

Immerse yourself in nature with a stay at Hoppers Barn, our stylishly converted Victorian shippon. Hoppers Barn at Dunsdon Farm is an amazing reverse-level luxury conversion with 3 bedrooms (one en suite) and 2 bathrooms; it sleeps 6 and is pet-friendly. Our holiday barn is a hidden gem, set amid peaceful countryside and next door to Dunsdon National Nature Reserve (a Site of Special Scientific Interest), yet only 20 minutes’ drive from the popular surf resort of Bude, with its acclaimed beaches, many restaurants and walks along the South West Coast Path.

At Dunsdon Farm we take our food and our environment seriously. With 13 acres of mixed native woodland and 15 acres of culm grassland, the land is managed, with the help of Devon Wildlife Trust, for the protection of rare species of wildflowers, birds and butterflies that thrive here. Guests are welcome to explore the land. Our on-site artisan bakery (to come) will supply fresh sourdough bread and pastries. There's a wood-fired pizza oven in the farmyard that guests can use, as well as an outdoor kitchen with charcoal-fired barbecue and fire pit for guests' exclusive use. We encourage our visitors to explore the excellent local produce that the area has to offer, from delicious farm-made cheeses to Devon Ruby beef and much more besides.

Dunsdon Farm is an unspoiled mid-Victorian Devon farmstead, with a courtyard surrounded by traditional 19th-century buildings, one of which - the former shippon, or cow shed - has been converted for holiday accommodation. It's a luxuriously designed reverse-level building, with three double or twin bedrooms downstairs and a stunning open-plan living space upstairs, with fully fitted kitchen, dining and sitting areas.

Coffee lovers will enjoy the state-of-the-art Sage Barista bean-to-cup coffee machine, while audiophiles will appreciate the Ruark sound system. All bed linen and towels are supplied, and a high chair and cot are available for infants.

On clear, moonless nights the stars are truly amazing - expect views of the Milky Way and planets, which you can explore with the guest binoculars and iPad, using the Stellarium app. The binoculars are also handy for a spot of birdwatching - the farm is home to a population of the endangered willow tit, among many other species.

There are several walks from the door, either on our own land or along the disused Bude to Holsworthy aquaduct and, a little further afield, the South West Coast Path offers incredible views, as well as the occasional beach cafe or country pub.
