Picture yourself in a traditional Romany caravan – the perfect hideaway for two.
Rosehip Gypsy caravan at Hoe Grange in Derbyshire has all the romance of last century charm, with modern twists for added comfort. Climb the steps and go through the zipped canvas door to discover the curved ceiling covered in pretty floral fabric.
As dusk descends you can relax on the huge bean bag seats beside the glowing embers of the fire pit and gaze at the starlit sky. Hire a log-fired hot tub for your exclusive use for the evening before climbing into the cosy pull-out platform bed.
You’ll awake naturally to the sound of birdsong and farm animals grazing in the meadow, before cooking up a hearty breakfast over the open fire. There are many wonderful walks from the door, or you can borrow bicycles and head further afield. The Peak District has lots to see and do, from stately homes to bustling towns to explore, not to mention the stunning rural scenery.
Ruxpin Cottage at High Catton Grange, North Yorkshire, is ideal for a couple who fancy a quiet getaway. Tell the owners about your romantic special occasion and they will arrange flowers, champagne or wine, and chocolates!
The cottage is a delightful modern one-bedroom barn conversion which retains many original features. The en-suite bedroom has patio doors which lead onto a private patio with a table and chairs, ideal for lazy breakfasts, afternoon siestas or long summer evenings. Like the two other cottages on the farm, it is finished and maintained to a high standard and has exposed beams and high ceilings. Expect lots of little special touches to make your stay a pleasure.
There are good restaurants and country pubs nearby and if you feel like exploring, it’s an ideal base for visiting York, the Yorkshire coast, the moors and dales.
Book yourself in for a stay on a working fruit farm and you can look forward to a delicious farmhouse breakfast complete with fresh strawberries and raspberries picked from the fields! Church Farm offers two luxurious en-suite rooms on a bed and breakfast basis. Bramley (and Pippin) are beautifully furnished rooms with super king size beds made up with soft feather duvets and crisp Egyptian cotton sheets. They are both separate to the house with their own private entrances accessed from the garden. Breakfast, made from local produce, can be enjoyed in the farmhouse Breakfast Room or brought to your room door in a beautiful hamper.
Outside, there’s plenty of space to take a walk, run or just sit by the farm’s own lake, an ideal spot for a romantic picnic. The Manger, a 15th century inn, just few minutes’ walk away, is a good spot for an intimate evening meal.
There’s loads to do by day in the area, with numerous interesting places to visit – Church Farm is just 6 miles away from the picturesque Tudor town of Lavenham and 5 miles from historical Bury St Edmunds.
A cosy shepherd’s hut on a Wiltshire sheep farm, is the perfect rural retreat for country lovers! Tucked away at the far end of Marshwood Farm’s campsite, nestled against woodland, are two traditional, hand-built shepherd’s huts. Located in the Cranborne Chase Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (also an International Dark Sky Reserve), they are surrounded by the rolling landscape and an abundance of wildlife. Enjoy a hearty meal in the local village pub then return to your little hut to be warmed by the woodburner. Breakfast will be brought to you in a hamper in the morning.
There’s lots to see and do on the doorstep including Stonehenge, Old Sarum, Salisbury, Bath, Longleat House and Safari Park, and several English Heritage and National Trust properties.

It is one of two semi-detached brick-built barn conversions offering comfortable accommodation close to the Cheshire/Staffordshire border. The barns have been thoughtfully renovated to retain as much of their original character as possible and there are beams in every room. The contemporary kitchen and bathroom make it feel like a home from home.
By day the pair of you can indulge in a spot of coarse fishing on the farm, go mountain biking together, or play a round of golf at a nearby course. There’s a pub and restaurant close by, while the charming market town of Nantwich is nearby with lots of historic buildings to admire, as well as plenty of bars, shops and cafés.
