Dog Friendly Farm Holidays in the UK
03 October 2024
Going on holiday with the family should mean everyone – including your dog!
As a nation of animal lovers, dog-friendly holidays are on the rise but here at Farm Stay, we have been pioneers of them for a long time. In fact, we don’t just stop at dogs; bring your horse, cat or even your hamster!
However, holidaying with man’s best friend is something our members know and do extremely well - they are farmers, after all. Over 180 of our members offer dog-friendly accommodation. We’ve listed a selection below, but head to our Dog Friendly page to browse the full range.
Treworgey Cottages, Cornwall
With 17 cottages to choose from, and a huge range of activities on site, Treworgey Cottages is your go-to for a dog friendly holiday in Cornwall. These country cottages offer period features and are set on a 150 acre working family farm. Enjoy stunning views of the Looe River Valley on your dog walks, just by stepping out of your front door. Some of the cottages have enclosed gardens, making them truly dog friendly. For the animal lovers among you, you can feed the animals and even have a horse riding lesson, all before cosying up in front of your own log burner, the dog asleep at your feet!
Scaife Hall Farm, North Yorkshire
Scaife Hall Farm offers a real “home from home” experience, with a 19th century cottage that can be all yours. Situated in Nidderdale, close to the Yorkshire Dales National Park and the spa town of Harrogate, and with a huge number of walking routes on your doorstep, settle down into your country cottage, where one well behaved dog is welcome. The cottage sleeps six guests, so is perfect for a family or friends getaway. Scaife Hall Farm is a working sheep and cattle farm, so please do remember to keep your dog on a lead around livestock.
Swallow Pod - Gorgeous Glamping @ Hoe Grange Holidays, Derbyshire
Hoe Grange Holidays has long been regarded as a front runner for their inclusive and sustainable holidays, in fact they’ve won National Awards! And when you stay in their Swallow Pod, you can see why – this is an exceptional place to stay. The pods are not suitable for children, which means you and your four-legged friend can have a proper getaway, and your dog can keep clean with the paw wash facilities! Enjoy views of the Peak District from your firepit, stargaze to your heart’s content, or hire the wood-fired hot tub for a really romantic evening.
Wood Farm Cottages, Norfolk
In the sleepy lanes of North Norfolk, you’ll find a haven of calm – Wood Farm Cottages. With eight barn conversions to choose from, all with period features such as beams and exposed flint walls, there’s hardly a reason not to book here! All the cottages except Oak & Elm are dog friendly, and with 20 acres of fields to explore on your doorstep, plus the spectacular beaches of Blakeney and Cromer just a 15 minute drive away, dog walks are a must when you stay. And if woods are more to your dog’s liking, the market town of Holt and its Country Park are just 10 minutes down the road.
Please note: dogs are charged at £5 per night at this property
Dryslade Farm B&B, Gloucestershire
Just a short drive from the Forest of Dean, book into a traditional 18th Century farmhouse, where a warm welcome is assured. There are three rooms available to book at Dryslade Farm B&B, which is set on a working cattle farm, and breakfast is something to rave about here, as it always includes local produce. The guest lounge is cosy and comfortable and features a woodburner – ideal for your dog to curl up in front of after a day of exploring Gloucestershire and all it has to offer.
Greenhill Glamping, Kent
For a really romantic stay (plus your dog!), book a stay at Greenhill Glamping in the Kent Downs. Here you’ll find two shepherds huts, which have been lovingly restored by the family who work this farm. They include woodburners for when the nights are cold, and a firepit for stargazing – perfect! The Kent Downs has plenty of accessible walking routes which are ideal for dog walks and exploration – plus the stunning Kent beaches are a short drive away.
If you fancy more of an indoor stay, book into the onsite B&B – Alkham Court.
Natures Nest Glamping, Herefordshire
Discover glamping – this really is luxurious camping! At Natures Nest, choose from four safari tents, with all the luxuries you’d expect from a cottage, but under canvas. The tents sleep six guests (plus your dog!) and are super eco-friendly, as well as having their own hot tubs and woodburners for the colder nights. Set in a Natural Landscape and with the River Wye at the bottom of the farm, there are literally miles of country lanes for you and your dog to explore!
Yellowham Farm, Dorset
To indulge in some fossil hunting, book a stay at Yellowham Farm, a B&B close to the Jurassic Coast. Ideal for exploring the rest of Dorset too, the accommodation is set within 60 acres of farmland that is home to cattle and retired racehorses. The rooms have garden & orchard views, and two of the perfectly appointed Standard rooms are dog friendly. After a home-cooked breakfast, take in the views on a walk up the private farm track which is fenced off from the livestock.
Please keep your dog on a lead around livestock.
Blackmore Farm, Somerset
Blackmore Farm B&B is a truly unique place, an historic Grade 1 Listed, 15th Century farmhouse that has so many stories to tell! Enjoy breakfast in the stunning Great Hall while seated at the impressive 20 foot table, and if the local produce tickles your taste buds, there’s an onsite farm shop. There are 12 rooms on offer at Blackmore Farm, but the two rooms in the Cider Press (not in the main house) are dog friendly. These are self-contained B&B rooms, so that you can prepare your own food if you wish. They also have access to the gardens – ideal for your dog!
