Stay at a Farm Stay Property on the Cornwall and Devon Border
Several Farm Stay properties are located close to the border with Devon. Book a Self Catering holiday on a farm or a few nights B&B in one of our rural locations and enjoy touring both counties.
If in the south of the county, the Rame Peninsular offers a stunning coastline with breathtaking views out to sea and beaches with golden sands. Enjoy a visit to the fishing town of Looe and take in the history of Polperro.
From this area, catch the car ferry for a short five minute trip and you will be in Plymouth where you will have plenty to see and do. Plenty of shopping can be done in Drakes Circus, an undercover shopping centre built just a few years ago.
If modern day shopping is not part of your holiday list, the Barbican and Hoe are a must. As well as the small quaint shops and many restaurants and coffee houses, the Barbican is the home of the world famous Plymouth Gin. It also boasts the National Marine Aquarium where marine life from throughout the world can be viewed.
Stroll up to the Hoe and enjoy spectacular views of Plymouth Sound, a simply stunning natural harbour. Visit Smeatons Tower and the green where Sir Francis Drake played his last game of bowls before heading off to defeat the Spanish Armada in 1588. The recently opened Royal William Yard is also well worth a visit. See the splendour of old navy buildings that have been converted into shops and restaurants. If you wish to travel a little further, the South Hams are easily accessible from Plymouth.
Further inland the moors of Dartmoor and Bodmin moor are easily accessible from many of our Farm Stay properties. If you enjoy walking combined with some stunning scenery and vast amounts of open space, your days will easily be filled touring around this area.
Enjoy the stunning Tamar Valley with its pretty little nooks and crannies! An ideal area to bring a dog and stay in a pet friendly Farm Stay property. Staying in this area, you will never be more than 20 miles from either coast - study the weather forecast before you plan your day and you may be lucky and avoid the showers! The area also has excellent gardens in both counties, pretty little towns like Tavistock and Launceston and a holiday can soon be filled with a list of National Trust properties and historic houses that will not disappoint.
In the north of the county, plenty of cottages and B&B accommodation is available for you to choose from. Stay at a Farm Stay property in North Cornwall and as well as taking in the rugged coastline and golden beaches of the North Cornish Coast, visitors can enjoy a trip to Tintagel to discover the myths of King Arthur.
Boscastle is also well worth a stop - see how the village has been re-built since the devastating floods in 2004. Visit Port Isaac and you'll be in Doc Martin country - take in some of the fabulous scenery as seen on TV. Padstow is also sure to be on the list of places to go. Enjoy fish and chips from Rick Steins with views out to sea as a bonus!
Hopping across the border in the far north of the county and a short drive will bring guests to RHS Rosemoor - well worth a visit at any time of year. The quaint little fishing village of Clovelly may also be enjoyed.
So a Farm Stay holiday at the top end of the county will provide a fantastic location to explore not just one county, but two!
