There are several circular walks that start and end at Moreton Ford, one of which takes in Clouds Hill: the former residence of TE Lawrence. Your dog will have a fabulous time in the pine forests and swimming in the ford, sometimes in summer you can see people swimming with their dog too... There are also Tearooms there for refreshments after all that exercise.

Durlston Country Park, National Nature Reserve and Castle is a mile from Swanage. It has 280 acres of sea cliffs, meadows, hedgerows and woods and dogs are allowed inside the castle and out. This countryside paradise has glorious views, a variety of walks and often hosts special events- there's always something new to see and do for young and old

In the height of summer many of Dorset's beaches have restrictions... but there are quite a few that are more dog friendly all the year round. On the “Isle of Purbeck” at Kimmeridge, Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door and further towards Weymouth at Ringstead Beach there aren't any restrictions.

To the west of Dorset there aren't are any restrictions all along Chesil Beach and at the beach at Eype dogs are more than welcome to roam free all year round!

Many pubs near the Dorset Coast are dog friendly, but the relaxed atmosphere of the Hive Beach Cafe in Burton Bradstock is worth a special mention. They not only sell great tasting locally sourced produce, but they even sell biscuits for your dog, so whilst you're having a treat he's having one too! The cafe is right on the South West Coast Path so the best thing to do is walk over to Cogden Beach (dog friendly all year) then walk back to enjoy the best breakfast in the county!

Dogs are welcome in the grounds of Highcliffe Castle, if kept on a lead. Unfortunately, dogs are not permitted inside the house, unless they are access-companions. Highcliffe Castle is now featured on The Good Dog Guide website, which highlights dog-friendly attractions and venues with good walking facilities.

Dorset has an abundance of coastal paths for you to walk with your dog - giving you access to some of the most splendid scenery in the south-west. You can find activities to suit both you and your dog such as strolling through scenic inland footpaths or along the coastline. Then there are the market towns and villages where you can sample some of the local produce and go bargain hunting, but please ensure you keep your dog on a lead! You'll find that you're never too far away from national parks, museums, beaches and forest trails. Due to its diversity Dorset is perfect for all groups of people and for all ages including families to couples to groups of friend.
